Residential Guest House
Daly Genik Architects
Summer Internship 2008

The client requested the addition of a guest house above the garage to accommodate visiting friends and family. Daly Genik proposed two concepts, both of which include a green roof that slopes to the center to provide drainage. In the first proposal the bathroom is enclosed in a free-standing structure that supports the roof. The second proposal is designed to feel more like an open-air pavilion.

In my role as an intern, I built a foam core model of the full residence, designed by Daly Genik in 2000. This involved working from construction drawings and photographs, as well as site visits to study the topography. I also built several models of the guest house designs and created schematic drawings of proposals, examples of which are shown.
